Throughout the years we have focused our breeding program on the genetics of proven bulls. We test some young, unproven bulls each year also, but we’ve spent a long time building a cow herd proven to shine in the economically important traits. We don’t want to trust this breeding program to unproven sires. Great Limousin bulls of proven worth that have left a mark on our program are Polled Pension, Polled Hawkeye, Extra Spectacular, Wulf’s Guardian, L7N7, Lodestar, Beefmaster, and most influential of all, the great one, Sooner Jr. Proven calving ease bulls who have set the standard for the breed for nearly 30 years such as Master Brun Yankee and Mosbo Polled Tonto have long been an integral part of our replacement heifer breeding program producing light birthweights, trouble-free calving, and high maternal value replacements while maintaining performance and beautiful dispostions.
The breeding program moves forward with continued use of the greatest of proven high-performance sires such as Pistol Pete, Secret Weapon, Annapolis, Wulf’s Titus, Lodestar and our own record setter Bullion. Our heifer breeding program has incorporated the proven AI genetics of Tow Truck along with our own LLR 606, who has become the greatest calving-ease sire we’ve ever seen.
While we've been in the Limousin business since its beginnings in the U.S. - 1969 - our family also has a long history in the Angus breed. Growth and efficiency have been the driving forces here as well, with the genetics of Jetliner, Discovery, Mainline, New Standard, and our own LR Champ serving as the foundation of our Angus breeding program. Home-raised LR 840 is seeing extensive use on Angus heifers and Limousin daughters of LLR 606 to produce highly predictable calving ease Lim-Flex bulls.
